Why Your Cable Bill is so Goddamn High

I ordered VOIP service from Comcast the other day, and the lady who sold it to me said I would be getting a new cable modem in the mail, along with a return address label so I could mail back the old one. I was expecting something about the size of a shoebox to show up in the mail and was more than a little surprised to see this 24″ x 24″ x 24″ monstrosity delivered: Read More »

Cupcake Popularity is Out of Control

This is just completely unacceptable.
I think it is common knowledge that TV and entertainment is a copycat industry.  If you don’t believe me, one needs to look no further than the Fox network, which at last count, featured seventeen talent competitions run by d-list celebrity judges and a rude foreigner that seemed to take great pleasure in berating everyone in the most obnoxious manner imaginable.  However, some shows occupy such a narrow realm of competition that one would think a poorly-derived copycat show isn’t necessary, which is why it baffles me that there are so many goddamn shows about making cupcakes. Crazy Stupid Conservatives Are Crazy, Stupid

The amish are the only people left in America who have any sort of moral compass
A few days ago Sports Illustrated released their annual swimsuit issue, and a local model – Kate Upton from St. Joseph, MI – was on the cover.  It must’ve been a slow newsday, because our local news outlet posted a short blurb on their website and Facebook page, and of course the write up included an image of the SI cover – you know, for context.  Now I pose a question to our ones of readers: Do see anything controversial with this?  If you answered “Uh, nope,” then congratulations, you aren’t a dipshit. Movie review: 50/50

Cancer isn't as funny as it might initially seem.

So far as I know, there aren’t a lot of movies out there that could be described as cancer-comedies. After all, cancer isn’t really the topic to turn your ordinarily staid film to a couple hours of hilarity and hijinks, but 50/50 isn’t concerned with that risk, and you know why? Because it’s got Seth Rogen to pile on the laughs, that’s why. Of course, if you are like me and think Seth Rogen kind of sucks, then you might be in trouble. Read More »

Game Review: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Link faces off against evil doers in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

I’ve been a fan of The Legend of Zelda since the original NES; I even had that cool gold-colored cartridge, natch. While I haven’t played every game between then and now, I like to jump back into the series when I can. The latest installment, Skyward Sword, doesn’t disappoint. It plays well with the series traditions, but introduces some cool new stuff along the way. Read More »
